CMRAA was founded in 1996 to represent mobilehome residents throughout the state of California who are concerned with protecting their rights; and actively interested in enhancing their mobilehome way of life.

With close to 2 million mobile home residents (men, women, and children)  in the state of California, and with large conglomerates buying up Mobile Home Parks, unless we join together, we will find our homes and way of life in jeapordy.

We already know of large Park Owners who flaunt the law, disobeying the MRLs, city and county ordinances, and who constantly try to overthrow rent controls. Currently, Park Owners are trying to get around rent control by converting their property from mobile home communities into "condominium" sites by selling the space lots to home owners.

Unless we band together and speak with one voice that is heard throughout the state, and especially in the halls of the Legislature, we will lose our fight to retain our homes.

You DO have rights. You DO have laws on your side. You CAN fight back. But unless you are willing to step up and take responsibility to protect yourselves by joining CMRAA or other groups dedicated to preserving those rights, sooner or later you will find yourself fighting alone, and losing.

To help members achieve these ends CMRAA, as an organization, provides the following services:

  • An informational newsletter, education in the form of seminars, and organizational training for CMRAA members, chapters, and officers..
  • Interaction with individuals involved in professional areas which impact the mobilehome community (utilities, housing, etc.); keeping constantly aware of developments affecting mobilehome residents.
  • Monitoring of the California courts, becoming involved in cases where the mobilehome way of life is threatened.
  • Protecting and defending the rights of mobilehome residents by supporting their efforts when they are involved in court actions that affect the mobilehome community.
  • Operation at all government levels (particularly at the state level) to sponsor and actively support legislation beneficial to the mobilehome way of life.  CMRAA actively opposes any legislation that would affect mobilehome living in a negative way.

  • Interaction with legislators and their constituents to educate and inform them about the special needs of members of the mobilehome community.

  • Support for the election of candidates to public office who demonstrate their commitment to the mobilehome community, by actively working to accomplish that goal.

  • Keeping the members of the Mobilehome community informed about their legal rights under the various federal, state, and local laws.

CMRAA's leadership and the achievement of this organization and its members in serving the mobilehome community is known throughout the state.  Of course, the task is never done. The needs never completely met.  You may become a member of this very active organization by paying a single nominal membership fee of $15.00 a year.  Simply click on the link to 'Join Us'
