NEWSFLASH

CMRAA has retained the legal services of Paul Minoletti. He will be our general council and will be able to represent not only CMRAA, but individual members as well.

His primary legal expertise was in construction law, but found himself dealing with mobilehome/manufactured homes in lawsuits concerning construction problems. Eventually he carried that expertise over to Failure to Maintain lawsuits.

More on this development later.

I attended what was supposed to be a "summit meeting" on April 3rd in Sacramento.  Supposedly this was to form an alliance between GSMOL, CoMoCal, and CMRAA.  CMRAA, of course, had allied with GSMOL three years ago in an effort to provide a united front in the halls of the legislature when pushing new bills.   It worked very well.

The plans are that the three state wide groups will coordinate legislative support or opposition to mobile home bills, depending upon whether or not they help or hinder us.  Affiliated with the 3 main groups will be local, county and city HOA orginizations throughout the state, such as SCMOA and SRMOA in Sonoma/Santa Rosa area - and all the way south to San Diego - and north to the Oregon border.

Their names will be listed as support groups, giving more authority to the "umbrella" group.  We proved in the last 2 years that CMRAA and GSMOL working together got more attention from the legislators. This coalition will exponentially be louder and stronger.

you will find a complete list of State Assembly Members and their telephone numbers.  Find your District and phone (or e-mail) your representative to either express support or opposition to those bills we support or oppose.  It's as simple as that.  The more phone calls they get, the harder they listen, and the closer they will pay to the bill.

If, on the other hand, you live somewhere within, say, a 2 hour driving distance, you might want to get a couple of your neighbors together to physically attend the committee hearings. The more bodies we have in support the more positive attention we get.

The idea is that you have to get involved to some extent.  We can only do so much without your active support.  Remember Propositions 98/99?  The groundswell of active residents throughout the state getting involved by writing and calling their representatives, by going out into the community and passing out flyers, by writing letters to the editor created such a massive wave of support that we handily defeated what could have been a devestating loss to us.  We need to continue those activities at some level in order to keep us on the front burner of political actions.
